Dads/Male Caregivers & Kids Night

Rural Response for Healthy Children is partnered with the Huron County Museum to offer monthly programming and activities for dads/male caregivers and their kids! Join us in-person on the fourth Thursday of the month for fun-filled themed activities, parent discussions, and social time.

These nights include tours of the museum/gaol, artifact and exhibit activities, parent/child social time, healthy snacks, and games! See below for each month's date, time, and theme.

 

This is a great opportunity to spend time together with your children. This program is provided free of charge in thanks to the Government of Canada.

Monthly registration is required. Please register by the day before each event starts as listed below.

December 19 6:00-7:00 PM

Sharp-Dress Dads: Fashion and style have changed over the years, we will take a look at men's styles from different eras in historical photographs. Design or build an outfit for your dad/male caregiver and pick from past hairstyles, facial hair, bowties, and more! Come dressed in your favourite outfit, hat, or wacky hair! We will discuss self care, wellness, and personal hygiene.​

January 23 6:00-7:00 PM

All Aboard! Let's learn about trains and steam technology. Make a train with make-dos! Design your car - what will it transport or will it be a party car, dining car, video game car? We will connect them all at the end to make one giant train!

Register by January 22.

February 27 6:00-7:00 PM

Museum Mysteries - what is it? Guess/match the artifact to what it does. We'll combine this fun activity with a tour of museum storage and exhibits!
 

Register by February 26.

March 27 6:00-7:00 PM

Wonderful Wildlife! Find animals and animal representations around the museum. Can you identify animals that are or aren't native to Huron County? We will talk about animals that migrate, might be there seasonally or travel through, animals that were more common before settlement and environmental changes, and animals that were brought by humans.
